Dr. Lauren Smith
Dr. Smith grew up in Rutherford, NJ and earned a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Northeastern University. Previous experience at the Hospital for Special Surgery included total joint replacements, spinal surgery, and general osteoarthritic and rheumatologic conditions. The focus today is musculoskeletal injuries, post-operative joint replacements, orthopedic surgery, and the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis.
My therapist Lauren was very knowledgeable and friendly. She help me recover after ankle surgery.
What guides the work.
Honesty and open communication. Those values apply to many parts of life, physical therapy included, and every plan starts with an open dialogue about what a patient actually wants to get back to. As Dr. Smith puts it: "The only way to do great work is to love what you do."
Off the clock.
Life beyond the treatment table.
Outside of work, time goes to family, volunteering at the kids' school, and coaching youth sports.
